From the soil to the bottle

photo vigne bouteille

Located about forty kilometers south of Bordeaux, the commune of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, which covers about 850 hectares of land derives its AOC sweet white wines in the vein of the wines of Sauternes. Ideally located on rocky and steep south-facing hills, the stony clay-limestone vineyards benefit from natural factors left by a former sea.

Benefitting from large amounts of Autumn sunshine and its onw micro climate, the fungus, Botrytis cinerea, or noble rot, is able to develop in optimum conditions, concentrating sugars, acidity and glycerol in grapes. Wines of the appellation of the Cadillac AC, Loupiac AC, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont AC and are all sweet wine appellations and are satellites of Sauternes.
